Today I rebuilt feraskhalil.com around a setup I actually want to use.

The old site ran on WordPress and Bluehost. It had been sitting there for a while, and every change meant going back through hosting dashboards, plugins, admin screens, and a setup I didn’t particularly enjoy maintaining.

I wanted something simpler — and something I understood.

So I rebuilt the site with Astro, moved the source into GitHub, deployed it with Vercel, and moved the domain’s DNS away from Bluehost.

Along the way I recovered the old WordPress database and files, preserved my original 2024 post, backed up the new repository, and learned a lot more about how the pieces behind a website actually fit together.

The site is intentionally small right now.

I’d rather add real writing and projects over time than fill it with placeholder content just to make it look finished.

More importantly, I now have a website I can actually understand, change, version, and deploy myself.

That feels like a much better foundation for whatever feraskhalil.com becomes next.
